When is the last time that you checked the oil in your car? If it is an older model that doesn’t tell you when it’s due, the car depends on you.

How conscientious are you? Not so careful?

Well, if you’re not too careful about your car, Christian, I wonder if you aren’t having the same—or a worse—problem with your soul? How is it? Is it full of sludge that will ruin you after awhile? Is it running low so that who knows what will happen next in your life?

If you don’t do periodic checkups, you probably have no idea how you are before God.

What are some things, as starters, that you could look for in a checkup?

Prayer; Bible study; Church attendance; family affairs; friends and associates; work, school; physical health; morals; witness—those ought to be enough areas to get you started looking at your lifestyle.

Be sure that you don’t neglect these items any longer. You can always get another car—you’ll never get another life!
