On several occasions I have had the distinctly unpleasant experience of not hearing much of what a preacher has to say.
“What are you talking about?”
About the unpleasant experience of not being able to hear what he says—I mean physically so!
“You’re getting deaf ! ”
It’s true that I am hard of hearing—but not quite so bad that if the speaker would talk loudly enough I’d get it all.
Actually, on some occasions the problem is that the speaker thinks because he has a mike, he can practically whisper his sermon. And prayers?  Well, I find myself praying alone since the problem is even magnified in prayer.
Every preacher should proclaim his message, not meekly whisper it!
I’m not the only one who has trouble hearing—even in a small room. I’m sure some older people with partial hearing stop coming to services because they are unable to get the message.
John the Baptist cried out (shouted) in the wilderness.  Granted, he was a field preacher.  But oh, how I wish every preacher had training in street preaching where he has to be heard above the din of traffic! It would forever change his perception of how he must preach in every situation—properly adapting the volume of his voice to it.
Preacher, think seriously about this! If you have something worth saying—then say it so all will be blessed by it!
