Today I had two outpatient procedures. I won’t go into detail about them. I’ll simply mention that my doctor said he that would know me inside and out when he was through.

Tonight I am reporting that there are interesting matters afoot. When I taught my Monday night class this evening I was pleased to find that my students were alert to what I had to say in spite of wafting the lingering effects of my anesthesia as I taught them. I am pleased that it didn’t seem to have any adverse effects upon them, even though I feared that it might.

Such procedures are interesting, but the preparation for them was even more so. When did you ever drink a gallon of Gatorade in one afternoon? When did you go without food for a day and a half? That’s what they required—and people complain that Nouthetic Counselors are tough on people—hunh!

If I ever undergo such planned cruelty again, I think I’ll take close notes on how best to ramp up our counseling procedure to a similar level of intensity. Compared to these, we have been pussy-cats at handling people. And—believe it or not—they charge you for the privilege of being tortured. So they all think we are masochists?

But, seriously. They did treat me well for what they had to do to me. I even was given two heated—heated—blankets for my bed! That’s a first. And they explained how they were using a new anesthesia that is better than Versed—with none of the lingering effects of the latter (I didn’t catch the name of this wonder drug, however, so I can’t report that to you. Sorry, I must have been under some non-lingering effects when he told me!).

If you have to undergo the same, don’t be too apprehensive. All-in-all, it wasn’t that bad. That is to say—what you can imagine it might have been without all of the amenities (even some “free” apple juice at the conclusion, before going forth into the cruel world).

What? What was that you asked? Oh! I see. Sorry to be a little slow on the uptake tonight. Yes, the procedures were a success. A clean bill of health (and for sure it will a bill that will clean me out, as nothing else did!).
