Are you exhausted after reading the blogs about Limited Atonement and the Emotions that God doesn’t have? I’m exhausted in writing about them. After all, these things require massaging the mind, squeezing the senses, beating the brain.
Why?
Because we are talking about matters that, in many respects, are beyond us. We understand as far as the Scriptures inform us, but we can go no further. We would like to do so at times, but then, there’s Deuteronomy 29:29!
The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.
I once had a discussion with a so-called Jehovah’s Witness who told me that he couldn’t believe in the Trinity because “that’s a God I can’t understand.” I replied, “If my God were One I could understand, I wouldn’t believe in Him because I’d be as smart as He.” We expect the true God to be beyond us, don’t we? Shouldn’t we?
If I could understand God, I’d be God. But I don’t (except so far as the Bible explains Him to me). And I’m not. Therefore, God is greater than my ability to fully comprehend.
Aren’t you glad He is?
