People! You just can’t imagine what they will think of or do next.
“What’s got you all gussied up today?”
Oh, I don’t know. It’s just that when you try to help, many people take offense at the offer.
“Someone give you a hard time?”
No. I’m thinking about someone else who received a number of offers of care and assistance in the very best of attitudes who was soundly rebuffed. I wasn’t personally involved.
“Happens.”
Yeah. Particularly when you stiff-arm people because of some sin in your life that you don’t want to give up.
“How did it turn out? Do you know?”
It’s too fresh to say; but I can guarantee that in the long run it will turn out bad for the one who is nurturing the sin and keeping others away, if there is no change.
“How do you know that?”
Because it’s wise counsel from the Word that’s being rejected and Proverbs has something to say about that. Wisdom says,
You ignored all my counsel, and didn’t want my rebuke . . .
I’ll mock you when your terrifying fear comes.
Proverbs 1:25-27
You can’t ignore God’s wisdom with impunity.
“What are you doing about it?”
Since the party involved will not listen to anyone, all I can do is pray.
“Yeah.”
