Your strength? Your ability to run in the latest Marathon? The beautiful house you designed? The results of your diligent work? Your family, kids, their achievements? Your work in feeding the poor and homeless?

What are you proud of?

“Have to think—there are a number of things.”

That’s a problem.

“What is?”

Having to think twice about the matter.

“Can’t see why—there are so many things that . . .”

Whoa! Let me read you something—something that should come right to mind in response to the question:

Some take pride in a chariot; and others in horses,
but we take pride in the Name of the Lord our God.”
Psalm 20: 7 (HCBS)

“Yeah, sure, but . . . “

What’re the ‘buts’ all about? Can a Christian even think ‘but,’ in that respect, let alone say it?

“I guess you’re right. I’d better do some re-thinking, re-evaluating, re-assessing, I suppose.”

Not a bad idea. I suggest that you take a fresh look at Corinthians 1: 31 when you do so.

“Hmmm . . . Thanks!”

Welcome.
