Do you believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose from the grave? If so, good.
That’s the first question. Perhaps, of as great importance is the second; Why do you believe what you believe?
Do you believe it because you grew up with that belief? That’s OK if you’ve advanced to studying the reasons why you and your parents believe it, and have come to a solid faith-based on biblical understanding of the faith.
It’s not so good, however, if you just believe without having considered the Scriptural evidence.
Why? Because faith, not firmly grounded, is shaky, and could be knocked sideways by some attractive, but specious arguments of unbelievers or cultists.
God wants you to be able to give a reason for the hope that is in you. Can you?
If not, you have some work to do. Lay aside that video game, those regular TV programs that you listen to, that sport that takes up so much time—and get down to brass tacks with your faith. Do some studying. Work at it! If you don’t know where to begin, ask your pastor for some materials to help. If he is unable to supply you, perhaps we could make a few suggestions. But, above all things, firm up your faith.
